Fully remote, full-time role (40 hours/week). Salaried employee in your country. Target total compensation aims to match the 75th percentile for the role, seniority, and local market rates. Approximate yearly compensation in Ireland: 70.500 EUR. Benefits include 5 weeks (25 days) paid time off, paid sick leave (per country rules), parental leave (paid/unpaid), budget for work hardware, annual smart home budget, annual education budget, yearly performance bonus, 50% contribution to internet at home workspace, and one day every two weeks for personal projects.

Description
Nabu Casa is the organization behind Home Assistant, a free and open-source smart home platform used by over two million households. The Technical Writer will own the documentation experience for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud, working end-to-end to make products accessible to a global community. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining accurate, up-to-date, discoverable documentation; planning documentation for new features/integrations/releases aligned with product shipping; collaborating with engineers to research and verify technical content (Python, YAML, REST APIs); auditing and improving existing docs; defining documentation standards/style guides/templates; triaging and acting on documentation feedback; and contributing to developer experience documentation (API guides, integration docs, contributor docs). The role requires strong developer/product documentation skills, ability to read code, understanding of smart home hardware/electronics, experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, MkDocs/Docusaurus), high autonomy, and strong stakeholder management. Experience with Home Assistant or similar open-source/self-hosted software and async remote-first work is a plus.
