Responsibilities
- Be the first engineering hire
- Ship workflows that will become a trusted product for users
- Build and own backend architecture decisions from day one
- Implement the backend and data layers to support an agentic approach in the future
- Use contract-first development with a TypeScript contracts repo as the source of truth
- Solidify engineering approach and support go-to-market execution as described
Requirements
- 5+ years backend engineering
- Preference for backend
- Python and FastAPI preferred
- Strong data modeling instincts; designed schemas that had to scale
- Experience with multi-tenant data architectures
- Comfort operating without process
- Comfort and experience using AI tools and incorporating new ideas quickly
- Finance domain familiarity is a plus (not required)
- Full-stack engineer with preference for backend

Description
Quin is an agentic platform to solve personal finance for people. The role is the first engineering hire and focuses on shipping trusted user workflows and building the backend and data layers that can support an agent in the future. You will own backend architecture decisions from day one with contract-first development, using TypeScript contracts (as source of truth). Required technologies include FastAPI and Supabase/Postgres, plus Groq for LLM inference. The stack is clean and the codebase is small. The candidate should have 5+ years backend engineering, strong data modeling instincts, and experience with multi-tenant data architectures. Finance domain familiarity is a plus. Comfort operating without process and incorporating AI tools is expected. For the right person, there is an opportunity to take a CTO/co-founder role and define the full technical path.
