Start-up building a local-AI camera OS replacing cloud CCTV (SigmaStar cameras → RTSP/ONVIF → HDMI node → on-device AI, offline-first). Hiring two roles (remote, UK/EU preferred): 1) OS / Device Lifecycle Engineer: single-layer ownership of secure boot / trust chain (ROM → U-Boot → kernel → rootfs), OTA updates and rollback strategy (A/B, recovery modes), device identity & lifecycle (provisioning, key rotation), and failure recovery (power loss, corrupted SD, watchdogs). Must be able to address SD vs eMMC vs NVMe tradeoffs, brown-out behavior, thermal throttling, BSP maturity, and Camera ISP/NPU concurrency constraints and vendor SDK realities. 2) Independent Embedded/Firmware Engineer: senior role to audit and validate firmware bring-up assumptions, validate performance/thermals/power/stability, create reproducible test plans, and document to avoid single-point-of-knowledge risk. Candidates should have shipped embedded systems that survive packet loss, unplugging, thermal throttling, storage corruption.
