Role details

  • Fluently work within TED Brand Creative's concept-focused and strategic-minded design process
  • Create impactful and thoughtful concepts, experiences, designs, and identities that bring the TED brand and its numerous products and initiatives to life across a wide range of touchpoints
  • Design at an extremely high level and provide a strong creative point of view
  • Concept and execute identities and brand systems for original video series, podcasts, conferences, and initiatives
  • Extend design systems for events to cover environmental graphics, books, stage design, digital marketing, social media, screen environments, templated signage, merch and more
  • Create original artworks for TED's editorial channels
  • Own print production from layout through vendor handoff, including large-format signage, conference materials, and print-ready files
  • Present designs and concepts with clarity and conviction
  • Seek out, receive, and apply feedback to push your and the team’s work further
  • Provide constructive feedback to other team members
  • 3+ years of graphic design experience
  • NYC-based preferred
  • Expert fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Working knowledge of designing for print, especially InDesign and Photoshop
  • Ability to prep files and work with vendors for output
  • Expertise in Figma
  • Working knowledge of digital design systems is a significant plus
  • Experience designing marketing assets (email, social, display, web) is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills from concept through delivery of mechanicals
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Deeply curious mind; culturally engaged and proactively exploring new technologies and trends

As a multi-disciplined creative, the Designer is a highly conceptual visual thinker and detailed in execution of ideas, from cradle to completion. Responsibilities include working within TED Brand Creative’s concept-focused and strategic-minded design process; creating impactful concepts, experiences, designs, and identities across many touchpoints; designing and providing strong creative point of view; conceptualizing and executing identities and brand systems for original video series, podcasts, conferences, and initiatives; extending design systems for events (environmental graphics, books, stage design, digital marketing, social media, screen environments, templated signage, merch, and more); creating original artworks for TED’s editorial channels; owning print production from layout through vendor handoff (large-format signage, conference materials, and print-ready files); presenting designs and concepts; seeking, receiving, and applying feedback and providing constructive feedback to others. Qualifications: 3+ years of graphic design experience; NYC-based preferred (TED headquartered in NYC); expert fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud with working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop for print; expertise in Figma (digital design systems a plus); experience designing marketing assets (email, social, display, web) a plus; strong organizational skills; flexibility in a fast-paced environment; culturally engaged and curious; open to other creative skills such as illustration, motion, photography, and 3D (valued).
