Compensation

Fully remote salaried employee. Full-time 40 hours/week. Benefits include 5 weeks (25 days) paid time off, 14 days paid sick leave (country/law dependent), 6 weeks paid and 6 weeks unpaid parental leave in the first year after birth, hardware budget, annual smart home budget, annual education budget, yearly performance bonus, 50% contribution to internet fee, and one day every two weeks for personal projects. Total compensation aims to match the 75th percentile for role/seniority/local market; example yearly compensation (approx.): Portugal 61,200 EUR; Greece 56,100 EUR; Ireland 70,500 EUR; Italy 64,400 EUR; Poland 215,000 PLN; Hungary 20,250,000 HUF; Romania 275,000 RON; Spain 63,600 EUR; UK 73,800 GBP. Other countries: discussed in first interview; may be adjusted based on experience/qualifications/work hours.

Description

Nabu Casa is the organization behind Home Assistant. The Technical Writer will own the documentation experience for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud, translating technical complexity into clear, accurate documentation for a global community of users and developers. Responsibilities include end-to-end documentation ownership, planning and delivering docs for new features/integrations/releases, working with engineers to research/verify content, auditing and improving existing docs, defining documentation standards/style guides/templates, triaging documentation feedback from community/support/internal teams, contributing to developer experience via API/integration/contributor docs, and tracking documentation quality signals. Requirements include strong developer/product documentation skills, ability to read code (Python, YAML, REST APIs), understanding of smart home hardware/electronics, experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, MkDocs or Docusaurus), high autonomy, and stakeholder management with engineers. Nice to have: familiarity with Home Assistant/open-source/self-hosted software, experience with community-driven documentation, systematic auditing/prioritization, and experience working async in a remote-first team. Reports to the VP Commercial.
