Product Engineers on YC's own team. YC has an 18-person software team with no PMs; engineers own end-to-end delivery. The team builds software behind YC's $6B in investments, including tools that help partners evaluate thousands of startups per batch, AI-powered apps used daily by founders, and platforms like Work at a Startup connecting candidates with YC companies. Engineers receive unlimited AI tokens for development and for building AI-powered products. The roles differ from other roles by deep exposure to startups across industries, direct work with founders and partners (including attending Demo Day and founder dinners), strong compensation with fund carry (equity), and generous relocation support for those not already in SF. Two roles open: (1) Product Engineer (full-stack, own the product lifecycle) using a Rails/React stack; build tools powering how YC invests in and supports startups. (2) Community Builder and Software Engineer (hybrid) running YC's talent-facing programs (meetups, tech talks, career expos) and building the software to scale them; requires strong engineering skills and a passion for supporting communities. YC is also exploring a Technical Chief of Staff role working with a GP, involving analytical thinking, driving operations, and scaling what they do with software.
