Fully remote; normal salaried employee. Full-time 40 hours/week. Competitive yearly compensation (approx. by country): Romania: 215.000 - 275.000 RON. Also includes five weeks paid time off, paid sick leave (per country), parental leave, work hardware budget, annual smart home budget, annual education budget, yearly performance bonus, 50% internet contribution, and one day every two weeks for personal projects.

Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end documentation experience for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and discoverable
- Plan and deliver documentation for new features, integrations, and releases in sync with the product shipping cycle
- Work directly with engineers to research and verify technical content to reduce documentation burden on engineering
- Audit and improve existing documentation continuously by flagging outdated content and filling gaps while improving structure and tone
- Define and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and templates for consistent and maintainable community contributions
- Triage and act on documentation feedback from the community, support, and internal teams to prioritize improvements that improve user outcomes
- Contribute to the developer experience through API guides, integration documentation, and contributor docs
- Track documentation quality signals (support ticket themes, community feedback) and report on them regularly
Requirements
- Strong technical writing skills with a portfolio of developer or product documentation
- Ability to read and understand code (Python, YAML, REST APIs) well enough to write accurate technical content without constant hand-holding from engineers
- Good understanding of smart home hardware and electronics, with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues independently
- Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, static site generators such as MkDocs or Docusaurus)
- High autonomy and self-direction
- Strong stakeholder management to get technical information out of busy engineers efficiently

Nabu Casa (behind Home Assistant) is seeking a Technical Writer to own the end-to-end documentation experience for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud. The role involves planning and delivering documentation for new features, integrations, and releases; working with engineers to research and verify technical content; auditing and improving existing documentation; defining documentation standards and templates; triaging documentation feedback; and contributing to developer experience via API/integration/contributor docs. The position is fully remote with at least 3 hours daily overlap for team communication and reports to the VP Commercial.
