Responsibilities
- Design and deliver mentor onboarding for varied classroom and club settings
- Build ongoing professional development (office hours, live monthly sessions, coaching check-ins) to improve mentors’ ability to deliver the program
- Develop practical mentor-ready resources including videos, how-to guides, templates, and quick-reference sheets
- Review new lesson plans and activities before rollout and provide feedback to support real-world implementation
- Translate curriculum into mentor-ready training (how to run sessions)
- Partner with Regional Program Managers to support and enable local support and accountability
- Collaborate with the data team to understand what is working and what is not (activities mentors struggle with, where fidelity scores dip)
- Design mentor training that fits how college students consume content (short videos, push notifications, text-based tips, interactive modules)
- Experiment with new training formats (e.g., mentor training podcast, quick-tip video series, LMS modules)
- Stay current on what motivates and engages the generation of mentors
- Spend about 10-15% of time observing mentors and gathering input to make training more practical and responsive
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in education, instructional design, curriculum development, youth development, training and coaching, public health or related field
- Familiarity with instructional design frameworks and ability to apply them to real-world, time-constrained training contexts
- Demonstrated ability to work with young adults, particularly college students
- Experience working across varied learning environments or age groups is a plus
- Comfort with learning management systems (LearnUpon experience a plus)
- Ability to create and edit video
- Familiarity with design tools such as Canva
- Quick to pick up new platforms
- Ability to travel nationally as needed (estimated 10-15% of travel)
- Passion for youth development, health education, or addressing health disparities in community settings
- Creative problem-solver mindset (generate options when something isn’t working)
- Ability to apply instructional design principles practically and understand how adults/young adults learn
- Strong facilitation skills to lead live training and host office hours (including over Zoom/Teams)
- Ability to give feedback that is honest and supportive; coach without crushing confidence
- Collaborative communicator who manages up and out effectively

Who We Are: HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization committed to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities through programming for teens in education, leadership, and service learning, using near-peer mentorship with college-age mentors deployed into schools. Where You Fit In: This role is the connective tissue between curriculum design and program delivery, owning mentor training and development and ensuring the training and resources fit real-world implementation.
