FarmWise

We build autonomous farming devices that help solve the labor shortage encountered by many farmers in the US and we also drastically reduce the amount of chemical used in the farming process. We're a product focused robotics and agriculture service company, meaning we have vehicles in the field with customers relying on us every day. Our operation center is in the Salinas Valley (where 70% of all American Lettuce is grown). Engineering HQ is in San Francisco, although we are actively fully remote, and revisiting our long term remote policy. We're hiring a senior software engineer with either a background in robotics or the interest in entering the field. Our stack is in C++ with some Python, we use ROS and have custom infrastructure for interacting with and pulling data from the robots. We have projects around localization in the field, controls and actuation, classical computer vision (VIO/pattern matching) and both off and online calibration. We also have openings for mechanical and electrical engineers that are willing to spend some time in person in Salinas. Challenges here include hardening our electrical and mechanical stacks (which must be robust to operating on rough field conditions), designing and building some custom components, and iterating on sensors and power/data transmission methods.
