Description

Our client is a full-service digital product agency focused on the creator economy and online education, using a distributed team based in Canada. This is a temporary contract role for a senior full-stack engineer to join a mid-development build for a leading platform in the creator economy. The project involves rolling out a native Community feature, with beta and a release event planned later this year. You will be embedded into a small team and ship production code from day one. Responsibilities include building and shipping full-stack features across a Rails service layer and React frontend, picking up tickets from the Linear board, scoping and delivering production-quality code with strong test coverage, participating in client sprint rituals and demos, collaborating closely with engineers and PM processes, and contributing to architecture/integration discussions (especially real-time infrastructure and feed/messaging via Stream). You will also write thoughtful code reviews. Requirements: 7+ years of full-stack experience with substantial production work in Ruby on Rails and React; comfort navigating and modifying a Rails monolith; strong Postgres knowledge (queries, indexing, migrations) and experience with Redis for caching/background jobs; production React experience; experience with real-time features/multi-tenancy/scale and familiarity with trade-offs (ActionCable/AnyCable, Stream.io, Pusher, or similar is a plus). Must communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, be self-directed, and be motivated by feedback and craft. Availability for EST or compatible timezones with strong overlap to EST/CET working day is required. Comfortable working as a contractor.
