Description

tl;dr over 260+ tech positions all over the world in a large, fast moving company Before I joined Elsevier, I was a long-time HNer, so the company had a certain stigma for me. Once when I was traveling I met someone, and sharing some laughs, I told them who I worked for; they replied, "Aw, and I thought I liked you." Our Research division (publishes journals, manages ScienceDirect, etc) clearly has an image problem, and we understand why (and are working to improve that!). But what I didn't know before is that Elsevier does a lot more than publish journals. Elsevier builds products to help doctors make more informed clinical decisions; education software to help train nursing students; portals to help patients learn about their conditions and receive better care; maintains databases of drug data for pharmacists. They've made a bunch of cutting edge acquisitions, including 3D4Medical and ShadowHealth. And a lot more I can't remember! What struck me the first day I started here was the people. They care about each other, and they care about their work. They are passionate about improving health outcomes, advancing research, and just providing useful tools to improve lives. And they care that the company is acting ethically and doing good, as people ask critical questions in large Town Hall meetings. I've never worked at another tech job where the management bends over backwards to try to hire such a diverse range of talented people who care. And I've never worked at a place where I like my colleagues so much. We're a mix of an old-school large organization, and a start-up culture (the good kind, anyway). I was almost disappointed to learn there were 3 other people with colored hair on my building's floor ;) We have fun culture-building events and lots of work flexibility. Through the pandemic we've been given lots of support, and we don't have to return to the office for the rest of this year if we don't want to (a bunch are choosing to return). There's support for education, good benefits, and a bunch of perks I don't even remember; it's been so long since the last Pretzel Day! :'( We have a ton of open positions in every major field of tech. We're still in the process of ramping up our technology group, and even though it's already considerably large, we need it to get even larger. Everything from Architects to SREs to Frontend Devs to UX Researchers to Data Scientists (and more), in Managerial and Engineering. We are actively building the systems, standards and platforms that will help us scale better, and we welcome people across the organization to dig into those challenges. We like to hire/promote internally, and encourage people to work in the field they prefer. We have both functional teams and cross-functional (squads), and lots of different projects/products to work on. We have openings in offices all over the world: US, India, China, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, UK, Netherlands, Turkey. We're also investigating more flexible remote work policies, and our management is actively lobbying internally to hire more remote workers, because we know great talent doesn't have borders. There's too many positions for me to post! Check our jobs page (https://relx.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/ElsevierJobs) and if you see something you have questions about, e-mail me <p.willis -AT' elsevier.com> and I'll find out for you. I can also submit your application for you and follow up periodically.
