Compensation

Fully remote salaried employee. Total compensation aims to match the 75th percentile for role/seniority/local market rates. Full-time 40 hours/week. Benefits include 5 weeks paid time off (25 days), paid sick leave per local laws (14 days if treated as unpaid elsewhere), 6 weeks paid + 6 weeks unpaid parental leave in the first year after birth, work hardware budget, annual smart home budget, annual education budget, yearly performance bonus, 50% contribution to internet connection fee, and one day every two weeks to work on personal projects. Approximate yearly compensation (primary countries): Greece 56,100 EUR; Hungary 20,250,000 HUF; Ireland 70,500 EUR; Italy 64,400 EUR; Poland 215,000 PLN; Portugal 61,200 EUR; Romania 275,000 RON; Spain 63,600 EUR; UK 73,800 GBP. Other countries: discussed in first interview; adjusted by experience/qualifications/work hours.

Description

Nabu Casa (behind Home Assistant) is looking for a Technical Writer to own the documentation experience for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud. The role has high ownership and impact: creating and maintaining end-to-end documentation (setup guides, deep API and integration docs), working directly with engineers to research and verify technical content, auditing and improving documentation continuously, defining documentation standards/style guides/templates, triaging documentation feedback from community/support/internal teams, and contributing to developer experience (API guides, integration docs, contributor docs). The ideal candidate has strong technical writing skills with developer/product documentation portfolio, can read code/configs (Python, YAML, REST APIs) to write accurate content, understands smart home hardware/electronics for basic troubleshooting, and has docs-as-code experience (Git, Markdown, MkDocs/Docusaurus). Experience working async in a remote-first distributed team is a plus.
