Role details
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering discovery
- Work with Product on roadmap planning within the API payroll integrations space
- Drive projects from inception to completion
- Work efficiently without many hard deadlines or micromanagement
- Provide strong systems design experience
- Provide technical leadership
- Create and maintain optimal software supporting Product initiatives and features using Typescript
- Establish and enforce best practices in code to build sophisticated software that adheres to common programming principles
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product and Operations teams to support their Product development needs
- Review requirements and translate into an executable development plan, breaking down projects to enable iterative and agile implementation
- Provide production support and train junior engineers
- Proactively drive the vision for architecture and design across multiple product verticals
- Manage the delivery of high impact development solutions

Description
I'm the hiring manager for this role, which is for an IC tech lead. Looking for someone comfortable leading engineering discovery and working with Product on roadmap planning within the API payroll integrations space. The most important thing in this role will be driving your own pace and taking projects from inception to completion. Successful candidate will be good at working efficiently without many hard deadlines or micromanagement. Also want strong systems design experience and good technical leadership skills. Tech stack is mostly Python and TypeScript, including Nest.js. Interview process: phone screen with recruiter; culture fit/qualifying interview with boss; technical interview with a real-world problem (no leetcode); finally a cross-functional team interview with myself and another engineering leader.
