Role details
Responsibilities
- Full technical decisions
- Build and maintain multi-tenant cloud architecture supporting Canadian data residency requirements
- Compliance framework buildout (SOC 2, PIPEDA, MFIPPA, and relevant security standards)
- Technical hiring as the team grows
- Ship production systems where a bug has legal or compliance consequences
- Hands-on work in SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PIPEDA, or equivalent regulated environments
- Review and challenge AI-generated code and architectural decisions
- Represent the technical platform for government IT evaluators
- Inherit and work on existing TypeScript / Node.js / PostgreSQL codebase
Requirements
- 5+ years in cloud infrastructure or backend engineering
- Direct exposure to multi-tenant architecture
- Experience with data residency requirements
- Experience with uptime SLA commitments
- Shipped production systems where a bug has legal or compliance consequences
- Hands-on experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PIPEDA, or equivalent regulated environments
- Ability to review and challenge AI-generated code and architectural decisions; not threatened by AI tooling and not blindly trusting it
- Ability to represent the technical platform for government IT evaluators
- Comfortable inheriting an existing TypeScript / Node.js / PostgreSQL codebase
- Located in Toronto or willing to relocate
