Description
Magic Containers is bunny.net’s edge-native platform for running containerized applications. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll help evolve the platform by building and evolving the core of Magic Containers, setting standards, mentoring engineers, improving code quality and team knowledge, and driving end-to-end improvements across platform, processes, and developer experience. You’ll lead cross-team efforts (orchestration scaling, global observability, migrations and technology shifts), align technical direction via specs and architecture, connect engineering decisions to business goals, debug complex production issues, and take ownership end to end for systems that solve real customer problems at scale. Requirements include 5+ years of experience with C# (or strong willingness to switch), deep understanding of containers (cgroups, namespaces, runtimes), proven experience building and operating distributed systems for global scale/low latency/edge, strong Linux knowledge, networking fundamentals (routing, load balancing, distributed traffic patterns), familiarity with time-series/analytical databases (e.g., ClickHouse, InfluxDB), strong debugging, cross-team/company-wide initiative leadership, observability best practices (logging/metrics/health monitoring), and clear communication. Preferred: understanding Anycast, container security/sandboxing (e.g., gVisor, Kata Containers), improving developer experience/infrastructure usability, familiarity with message brokers (RabbitMQ/Kafka), hands-on Redis/etcd/distributed key-value stores, experience with bunny.net products/edge compute/CDN, open source contributions, and strong customer-first mindset.
